Zilhaj moon not sighted, Eidul Azha on September 2

Ruet-e-Hilal Committee did not receive any evidence of moon sighting, says Mufti Muneebur Rehman

ISLAMABAD: The Zilhaj moon was not sighted on Tuesday, hence Eidul Azha will be celebrated across the country on September 2.

Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Mufti Muneebur Rehman announced the decision following a meeting in Islamabad, saying the committee did not receive any evidence of moon sighting.

Earlier, talking to The Express Tribune, Director General Pakistan Meteorological Department Dr Ghulam Rasul said “there were slight chances that the moon will be sighted today”.

Saudi Arabia's Supreme Court announced on Monday that the Zilhaj moon was not sighted in the country, with Eidul Azha to be celebrated in Gulf countries on September 1.
