PESHAWAR: In a bid to rid educational institutions of drugs, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said that joint teams of the Pakistan Army and the K-P police will conduct raids in colleges and universities across the province.
“Joint teams of the army and the police have been tasked to conduct raids in educational institutions in the province,” announced the chief minister during a meeting with Director General of Anti-Narcotics Force, Major General Musarrat Malik, at the CM House on Sunday.

“We need concrete steps to curb drug peddling and its use in our educational institutions,” Khattak said, adding that the teams of the army and the police would hold regular meetings for developing a coordination mechanism to conduct effective raids.
In this regard, Khattak said that he had directed the K-P inspector general of police to formulate a solid strategy in consultation with the army.
Khattak also directed the officials concerned to make necessary arrangements for the rehabilitation and treatment of drug addicts in government-run hospitals.
The chief minister praised his own cabinet’s efforts in removing legal hurdles for an effective delivery of service.
