KTH providing free treatment to dengue patients

Patients have been kept in separate wards where doctors and nurses are serving them round the clock

PESHAWAR: Keeping in view the increasing number of dengue patients, Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) is providing free treatment, including medicines and laboratory tests, to people suffering from the disease.

Medical Teaching Institute of KTH has also put up banners inscribed with information related to dengue prevention.

KTH Director Dr Nekdad Khan and Medical Director Prof Dr Roohul Muqim are overlooking healthcare facilities available to the patients. Two focal persons have also been appointed to facilitate them.

The patients have been kept in separate wards where two doctors and nurses in each unit are serving them round the clock.

Additionally, special-purpose pharmacies have also been established in the reserved rooms to ensure instant provision of medicines to the patients.



Dengue patients are screened twice every day for better surveillance and given treatment as prescribed by the physicians.

Khyber Teaching Hospital started receiving dengue fever patients from the first week of July.

A total of 4,320 patients with dengue symptoms visited the out-patient department of the hospital since July.

Of which, 699 were diagnosed with dengue fever.

Moreover, 325 patients were admitted to the hospital during the same period while 120 patients are still under treatment.

KTH is bearing all expenses for the treatment of dengue patients.
