Judge who ousted Sharif praises govt for implementing SC verdict

ISLAMABAD:
One of the judges who was part of the Supreme Court bench that disqualified Nawaz Sharif last month has lauded implementation of the verdict as well as appointing a new premier through democratic and constitutional means.

Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, senior most judge comprising the five-member bench, praised the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) during a recent event held a week ago. The function was organised by the Supreme Court Bar Association’s Quetta chapter in the bar room.

While the remarks were not reported earlier since media was not invited to cover the August 10 event, at least three senior lawyers who were present at the reception in the provincial capital confirmed to The Express Tribune that Justice Khosa had expressed satisfaction over the adhere of Constitution during the process.

Nawaz says avoiding clash among institutions not his responsibility alone


According to senior lawyer Munir Kakar, Justice Khosa appreciated the government for implementing the decision in the shape of an in-house change and smooth functioning of the democratic system.

Khosa went on to say that rule of law and supremacy of Constitution will be best in the national interest.

Kamran Murtaza, another senior lawyer, said Justice Khosa had expressed satisfaction that occurrences following the verdict were in accordance with the law and Constitution.

Justice Khosa also observed  everything  regarding Sharif's disqualification was done under the Constitution, said senior lawyer Qulbi Hassan.

Justice Khosa was part of the bench that declared in the April 20 verdict that Nawaz Sharif was not honest with the nation and the court. Likewise, his "Godfather" remarks during the proceedings of the case are still being quoted in the media.
