The members of the local community were carrying placards and banners with writings in favour of maintaining 502 Park for the area residents and appealed to the military authorities and Rawalpindi Cantonment Board that the park needed to be saved.
Upkeep of capital’s parks being neglected
They also appealed to Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javaid Bajwa for saving the park.
The protestors, including women and children, gathered in the park on Sunday and raised voice for keeping the old park in tact as it was the only park in the vicinity for the residents.
“We have been regular visitors of the park for last many years. Families and old people regularly have walks and recreation at the park. If the park is gone, there will be no open place for the residents in a few kilometres of the area,” said Sidra Khan.
