ISLAMABAD: Tribal elders have demanded the government led by Interim Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to implement Fata reforms soon as was promised during the tenure of the former PM Nawaz Sharif.

According to a radio channel, they made the appeal to the government while addressing a press conference at Bannu Press Club on Thursday evening not to delay the process anymore as the tribal people do not tolerate Frontier Crimes Regulations (FCR) anymore and want to come into mainstream”. Moreover, people of Fata should be taken into confidence while making any decision regarding their future. On this occasion, Moulvi Sardaraz said, “FATA reforms is the decision of our future. We have to come together for the future of tribal people.”

He said the government is using delay tactics because of disunity among the leaders of Fata. “We want to abolish FCR to enter into mainstream,” Sardaraz said.

Another local elder Ahmed Saeed said Fata reforms should not be delayed anymore as tribal people have already suffered much.
