Govt to establish women protection centres

Legal and administrative support would be provided to women through such centres

FAISALABAD: Punjab government will establish women protection centres in different districts of the province at a cost of Rs250 million during the current year.

This was disclosed by Social Welfare Director-General Waheed Akhtar Ansari while addressing a ceremony in connection with Independence Day Celebrations at Darul Amaan on Friday.

He said legal and administrative support would be provided to women through such centres so they could be able to lead a comfortable life. MPA Madiha Rana said the Darul Amaan inmates will participate in August 14 celebrations to follow the philosophy of Pakistan ideology. She said the rights of the women would be protected at all costs for which Women Protection Authority is working under law.

Later, gifts were also distributed among the Darul Amaan inmates while  prayers were offered for national solidarity and progress of the country.
