Gone are the days when Instagram was limited to just sharing snaps. Now you can do more than that: share videos, add geo-stickers and filters or even go live from your Instagram account.

Now the Facebook-owned app is going a step further. Instagram released a new feature on Tuesday allowing users to go live with a friend.

Millennials spend more than 32 mins on Instagram daily

Instagrammers will now be able to start a live video and then invite someone else to join in on-camera. “Starting today, we’re testing a fun way to go live with a friend. Now, you can hang out and go live together, whether you’re just doing homework or catching up on your day,” said Instagram in a blog post.

It’s rather easy to add a friend while you’re broadcasting; all you need to do is “tap the new icon on the bottom right and tap “Add” to invite anyone who’s currently watching.” Once they join, the live video screen will split into two and your friend pop up right below you. Viewers will still be able like and comment as they follow along.

Users can remove the guest and add someone else at any time, or the guest can choose to exit on their own. Instagrammers will also be able to share their videos to Stories once the session has ended or simply choose ‘Discard’ to make your video vanish.

The company is currently testing the feature with a small percentage of users and will be rolling out globally over the next few months.
