ISLAMABAD: Monsoon is a season which transforms the weather completely from scorching heat to pleasant cool temperatures bringing instant relief to people after a torrid summer season.

However, there is a downside to it too as with the advent of the monsoon season it brings with it certain water borne diseases which can cause severe illness especially to children.

Health experts have cautioned that everyone should take precautionary measures to protect themselves.

Speaking to the media Dr Faiza Hameed a health expert cautioned " After rainfall, stagnant water pools cause mosquitoes to breed and there is microbial growth.”

Another health expert Dr Arif Majeed said," People need to take precautionary practices during monsoon by cleansing their surroundings, eating fresh food and protect themselves from mosquitoes" Mosquito water or food, fungus and viruses cause most common monsoon session's diseases, he added.
