Pune Warriors outclassed Kings XI Punjab by seven wickets in the fifth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the DY Patil Stadium.
Punjab were able to score just 113 for the loss of eight wickets and were unable to defend that against debutants Pune, led by Indian Yuvraj Singh.
Earlier, Punjab’s Ryan McLaren top-scored with an unbeaten 51 but Pune’s Shrikant Wagh was the destroyer-in-chief as he grabbed three crucial wickets. Punjab captain Adam Gilchrist e was dismissed after making just one.
In reply, Punjab hit back early, dismissing Graeme Smith off the first ball of the innings. But that was not enough as Jesse Ryder, Mithun Manhas, Robin Uthappa and Yuvraj all contributed to guide the Warriors to victory with almost seven overs to spare.
