You'll go down in history as nothing but a usurper, Saad Rafique tells Musharraf

Says dictators can be found in the trash can of history, while elected representatives are still remembered

Railways Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Saad Rafique said on Saturday that former military ruler Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf's dictatorial policies had immensely damaged the country.

In response to Musharraf's recent claim that the military brought the country on the right track every time it came to power but civilians always derailed it, Rafique tweeted:

پرویز مشرف آئین شکن اور عوام دشمن تھے- انُ کی آمرانہ پالیسیوں نے پاکستان کی بنیادیں ھِلا ڈالیں-

The minister wrote that Musharraf had trampled over the country's Constitution and was an enemy of its public.

He further tweeted that dictators could be found in the trash can of history and there was nobody to grieve for them on their graves.



Elected representatives of the masses, however, were still remembered because their performance overshadowed their shortcomings, he added.

The PML-N leader went on to write that dictators deceived masses through pretentious development and an artificial change. Then to remain in power, they compromise on the country's sovereignty.

Rafique, then directly referring to Musharraf, tweeted that dictators showed fists to the nation while sucking up to foreign powers. He was referring to a bleak day in Karachi's history on May 12, 2007, when there was carnage in the city while Musharraf was waving his fist while addressing a public meeting in Islamabad.



He added that Musharraf was assisted in escaping the country but he would go down in history as an usurper and a criminal.
