Traffic police give one day's salary to slain colleagues' families

Police will continue to perform their duties, eliminate miscreants, says Sindh IG

KARACHI: Sindh Inspector-General of Police (IG) Allah Dino Khawaja directed on Friday his department to build a memorial for slain traffic policeman Muhammad Khan at the site where he was killed by an assailant on Abul Hasan Ispahani Road in July.
Head constable Khan was shot dead and Constable Kamran was critically wounded on July 24 when a gunman shot them while they were performing their duties at the traffic intersection near Paradise Bakery. The attack was reportedly carried out by a splinter group of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.

Traffic warden martyred in Karachi

To mark Youm-e-Shuhada Police (Police Martyrs Day), the IG visited the murder site and offered prayers for Khan and other policemen who were killed while on duty. He was accompanied by AIG Traffic Mushtaq Maher, zonal and traffic DIGs.
The traffic police decided to give their one day's salary to the families of their deceased colleagues. A total amount of Rs4.6 million from the traffic policemen's salaries will go to the families of 54 personnel who were killed in separate incidents. Among them, Khan's family will receive Rs0.6 million.

Talking to the media, IG Khawaja said that though there were different terrorist groups involved in the killings of the policemen but their ideology was the same. He said that the police's morale was high and they would continue to perform their duties and eliminate miscreants.
Meanwhile at the site, a camp for blood donation was also established where police officers, including the IG, and donated blood.
