NAB offers to help Balochistan govt

DG Mangi says officials must serve ‘honestly’ for a better future

QUETTA: The National Accountability Bureau of Balochistan has offered the provincial government to help improve laws governing and regulating various departments and institutions.

“Officials will have to decide on making the future of the next generation bright by honestly serving them otherwise they will remain an integral part of the corrupt system,” said Director-General NAB Balochistan, Irfan Naeem Mangi, during a meeting with provincial government officials on Thursday.

During the meeting, Mangi pointed out that beautiful schemes like Hazar Ganji Bus terminal were destroyed due to corruption. “It damaged the pace of economic development depriving the common people of basic civic services and facilities,” he added.

He said we should be thankful for having an opportunity to serve our people and “we shall give preference to serving our people”.

Issuing a warning, the DG NAB said that corrupt officials forget that they could be arrested and face corruption charges.

The meeting was attended by Ishaq Jamali, Additional Secretary Finance, Mohammad Hayat, Additional Secretary Planning and Development, Mohammad Tariq Rehman, Additional Secretary Communications and Works, Director QDA, Fazal Kasi and Ismail Mengal.
