ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) on Wednesday asked all public and private medical institutions to strictly follow the approved fee structure while inducting new students.

According to a PMDC official, all medical institutions have been told to display their fee structure and official bank account online to guide students who are seeking admission.

Under the new admission policy introduced by the PMDC, if any seat reserved in the foreign or self-finance quota remains vacant due to unavailability of eligible candidates, it would be transferred to open-merit quota and the student will be charged the same amount applicable to open-merit quota.

The official added that no candidate will be eligible for foreign quota seats in public, private medical and dental institutions unless they hold a permanent foreign nationality or are dual nationals.

Institutions will be required to announce admission process in their constituent or affiliated colleges simultaneously, complete with details of open-merit and foreign-quota seats.

Moreover, the selected candidates will have to submit their fees within seven days of announcing admission.

He added that no medical institution or its affiliated university will advertise, process admissions or admit students before October 31 or before final merit lists of public-sector medical and dental institutions are displayed.
