Boxing: Mayweather turns down Pacquiao fight

Recent negotiations between the two camps fell trhough, after Mayweather declined the $50 million proposal.

LONDON: The prospects of a Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather Junior’s fight have dealt a blow after the latter refused $50 million to step into the ring with his Filipino rival.

Speculations regarding a bout between the two have been growing in recent months. However, after recent negotiations between the two camps, Pacquiao’s adviser revealed that $50 million were offered to Mayweather but the he declined the proposal.

Despite which guy you root for , the fact of the matter is the public has been waiting on this fight for sometime now & nothing has happen. Floyd will come out of retirement, fight a so call tune-up fight then go back into retirement. Why would Floyd take the chance in loosing when he can make 20 - 30 million fighting someone who's a sure win. Thats been his pattern for a few years now & the public blindly keep thinking he's going to give the boxing fans what they want & deserve.

Gary | 13 years ago | Reply I can't see any reason for this apart from Mayweather being scared. For all his talk, this is just very weak of him. I think history will always regard him as being too afraid to step in the ring with Pacquiao and in a way that is almost as bad as if he had lost anyway. Very disappointing.
