The unprecedented verdict of the Supreme Court to disqualify now ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif for not disclosing one of his sources of income while contesting the 2013 elections dominated the news and social media sphere on Friday.

Along with thousands of Pakistani Twitter users, local politicians and foreign journalists, Pakistani celebrities too posted their reaction to what is being dubbed a historic decision by the apex court.

The highly politically vocal actor and activist Hamza Ali Abbasi sent out a string of tweets celebrating the verdict.

Sharif family has been in government for the last 30 years it means they have looted the country for 30 years, every member of Nawaz Sharif should be labelled corrupt and not take part in any election for good. And wealth they have looted should be bought back to Pakistan.

MJ-Sid | 7 years ago | Reply I will only believe that accountability is the reason for his ouster when other big fish are also brought to justice. The first time Nawaz was let go, it was due to him stabbing the establishment in the back during Kargil fiasco and trying to send a general on a plane to land in India. He did not learn from his mistake and again leaked the proceedings of a sensitive meeting throwing the army under the bus, what is now known as dawn leaks. He also continued his backdoor friendship with India and did not "share" the loot with the establishment in CPEC. So he paid for his foolishness by going against the establishment. You would be a fool to believe that corruption was the only reason he is being removed. Almost Everybody who is in the political, bureaucratic, military, financial, judicial arena in Pakistan is corrupt to the core. We have many politicians, judges, and army generals who have committed billions of Rs. worth of fraud and embezzlement in the country. Some of the promiment examples are Gondal brothers, Zardari, Hanif Abbasi, Raisani, Asif Hashmi, Ishaq Dar, Molana Diesel, Pervez Ashraf, Imran Khan, Zulfiqar Mirza, General Kiyani, Ishrat-ul-Ibad, Air Marshal Anwar Shamim, Gen. Musharraf, Babar Ghauri, Yousuf Raza Gilani, Altaf Hussain, Housing scam, 2005 stock market crash, Mehran Bank, Steel Mills,BCCI etc. etc. There are billions of dollars of black money that Pakistanis have in Swiss banks, Dubai, Abu-Dhabi, Qatar, South Africa, Far East etc. If we can even bring half of it back, Pakistan can pay off all it's loans.... think about it.

Basically what I tried to say was, its a start of a journey which heads to a nation where the life of a common man is not that cheap ,as we see today is. OK tell me something, if the same verdict was delivered for IK today, and the charges were money laundering, unusual or undescribable sources of that so called huge increase of assets, then presenting a same qatri letter to escape the wrongdoing, then having offshore companies, then denial of all the accusations, would you have been giving the same statement? Never. In that case you would be the one chanting mukk gya tera show imran... Go imran go imran. What my point is, if NS is held accountable for these assets then it depicts the start of an era which one day will have accountable everyone without discrimination. Whether it would be PPP or PTI. Does it make sense if PPP is not taken accountable for money laundering, why your PM is? If NS today, tomorrow probably the PPP,and the next day after tomorrow will be PTI. But ehtisaab sb k liye. Hope you understand my point, beside you are even free to follow NS or MOULANA FAZAL UR REHMAN :)

abdul Rehman | 7 years ago | Reply @abiha yes i am still supporting NS and before calling me sick call your sick as well because as i follow NS You follow IK And moreover the day i will think they are corrupt when its proved not by sayings of IK and if you proved the fact SC just proved then you are missing facts and talking your wishes out. and now the definition for wealth and assests used by SC is gona change not NS but everyone ill wait till this definition is used for everyone and i am so sure 99.9 % of general public dont even knew that this can also be regarded as assests and i believe not even lawyers have thought that this could be used this definition so broad that evens personal loans are added so ill say be prepared

The comments section shows the mentality of our that fraction who is still supporting our former pm ,who is proven guilty by the supreme court. People have seen the years long struggle of IK for this country, but what this N league has done?? Babies u should be happy to see a new start of accountability in the country. Even u disagree with IK at some point, be content with this new trend, as if IK will do something wrong in future, u can have him accountable. But please for God sake don't criticize someone for your personal likings and dislikings.
