Kalabagh Dam: ‘Reservoirs key to ending energy crisis’
LAHORE: Construction of water reservoirs like the Kalabagh Dam is necessary to cope with worsening energy crisis in the country, Pakistan Muslim League’s (like-minded) provincial information secretary Mian Muhammad Asif said on Saturday.

He said that the provincial government had failed in providing good governance, adding that their party had decided to fight for people’s rights.

Muhammad Ahmad | 13 years ago | Reply Kalabagh Dam is the most feasible Dam to construct in Pakistan and we are only doing discussion since 1980 but now some serious steps are required to cope with the increasing demand of energy and water. The cost of Hydel generated unit is just 1 Rupee as compare to Fuel generated unit, which costs us 12 Rs/Unit. There is also danger of depletion to our existing water resources Like in Tarbela Dam water storage capacity is decreased from 12 million acer feet to 6 million acer feet in just 35 years.
