The former Sindh government adviser was found near his house in the capital during the wee hours of Tuesday.
Leghari was allegedly kidnapped by unidentified people from his house, Sawan Garden in Islamabad, on April 4 this year. His family had told the police that several men in three Vigo cars had arrived at the family’s house just past midnight.
“They introduced themselves as being official persons and wanted to check identity cards of family members. However, when my cousin [Nawab Ali Leghari] brought CNICs to them, they forcibly picked him up without saying anything and went,” an application submitted by Leghari’s cousin to the police had said.
The family had also petitioned the Islamabad High Court for recovery of Leghari.

On Tuesday, family members and police confirmed to The Express Tribune that Leghari has returned to his family.
“He reached home at around 4am in the morning,” a family member said. Unidentified people, he added, had left him near his house. He was blind-folded and therefore couldn’t tell from where his captors had brought him.
Though the police, quoting his family, said Leghari’s health had suffered during his disappearance, he was alright and was not tortured by the captors.
“His captors had told him that they wanted to ask some questions and that he would get justice if he were innocent,” a family member said. He added that the family would soon submit a statement before the high court as well as the police that Leghari had returned home.
Asked if the family would press charges against the kidnappers, he said no. “He has returned home and that’s what we wanted. We will not submit any complaint against the people who had kidnapped him. This is Pakistan, you know,” the family member added.
