The two traffic police wardens were controlling the traffic near Disco Bakery when armed motorcyclists opened fire at them. The traffic wardens received multiple bullet wounds and were taken to a private hospital where one succumbed to his injuries while the other is said to be in critical critical.

An extra contingent of law enforcers, including Rangers and police reached the site and cordoned the area, and began collecting evidence.

9 cops among 26 martyred in Lahore suicide blast

Mobina Town SHO Mairaj Anwar said the incident seemed to be a part of a series of attacks on police personnel in Karachi, and banned militant outfits could have been behind the incident.

Sindh Home Minister Sohail Anwar Sial and IGP Sindh Allah Dino Khawaja took notice of the attack and sought a report from Zone East police chief.

Last Friday, three policemen were martyred when nearly half a dozen armed men on three motorcycles targeted a police mobile van of Awami Colony police station in the Korangi neighbourhood.

On June 23, four policemen were martyred in the SITE area when they were breaking their fast.

A pamphlet bearing a message from a militant group Ansar al Sharia Pakistan was found from the crime scene.

Also, Jamaatul Ahrar, a splinter group of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), had claimed responsibility for the deadly attack on the police mobile in Dhoraji neighbourhood in May in which two policemen were martyred and another was critically wounded.

MAHMUD MAJEED | 7 years ago | Reply Motor cycles are prime carriers of terrorists and robbers. The motor cycles brings the killers on the back seat, commit the crime and flee easily. It should be banned immediately as double riding carriers all over Pakistan and observe the statistical difference.
