Quake jolts Matung, adjacent areas 

No casualties or property damage reported

QUETTA: A moderate intensity earthquake jolted Mastung and its adjoining areas on Sunday forcing the residents to rush to safe places.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the magnitude of the earthquake was 4.4, its depth was 11 kilometers and its epicenter was located some 35 kilometres South-West of Mastung near Kalat district.

However, no casualty or the loss of property was reported from any area of the entire district.

In February this year, a powerful earthquake hit off the coast of Balochistan.

According to United States Geological Survey (USGS), the 6.3-magnitude earthquake hit 23 kilometers southwest of the city of Pasni at a depth of 10 kilometers.

The epicentre of the tremor was around 90km south of the town of Turbat, just off the coast at a depth of 10km below the seabed, said the USGS, which initially estimated the magnitude at 6.6. However, no casualties were reported.
