ISLAMABAD: In a bid to crack down on street crime, the Islamabad Police has decided to set up check points along various thoroughfares in the city.

Officials said that they would deploy vehicles at these points to keep an eye on suspicious people and.

To make checking more effective, the halting points will operate at different times of the day while their locations will also be changed periodically, a police official said on Wednesday.

He added that police pickets have been also erected in various areas of the city which were working around the clock. Apart from these check points, he said that the exit and entry points of Islamabad will also be cordoned off randomly for snap checking.

He added that the Interior Ministry had directed Islamabad Police to adopt a proactive policy to curb street crime. Moreover, police had revamped patrolling with Eagle squad officials on motorbikes along with commandoes in vehicles are being deployed across the city in three shifts to boost surveillance.
