According to the police, the locals retrieved a woman’s body from the river while efforts were on to retrieve the rest of the bodies as well as the wrecked jeep.

According to Fawad, a local driver, most of the roads from Upper Chitral to Central Chitral pass over the river; and due to dilapidated roads and lack of safety measures, such incidents frequently happen in the district.

Fayaz Khan, a resident of the area, said they had asked the district administration and the provincial government many times to create a safety wall, but to no avail.
