Indian woman drinks poison after being forced to have sex

Police have booked the boyfriend and are searching for him

A 26-year-old woman allegedly consumed poison in Hadapsar, Maharashtra state, India. after her boyfriend forced her to have sex, The Times of India reported.

The incident occurred at the victim's home in Hadapsar, at around 6pm on Wednesday. The victim is undergoing treatment at a government hospital, and is reportedly in a serious condition.



Police have booked the boyfriend under IPC section 376 (2) (m) (rape) and are searching for him.

The victim's father in his complaint said his daughter and the suspect were in a relationship for nine months.

According to the complaint, the suspect visited the victim when she was alone at home and pressured her to have sex. She refused and, in a fit of anger, consumed poison and lost consciousness.

Her father found her in this state when he came home, and rushed her to a hospital.
