All India Bakchod co-founder booked over insulting Modi

Famous Indian comedy group posted a picture of the Indian prime minister with Snapchat’s dog filter

Indian police have registered a case against All India Bakchod (AIB) co-founder Tanmay Bhat for insulting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on social media.

The famous Indian comedy group faced backlash from the government and police after their Twitter account posted a picture of the Indian prime minister with Snapchat’s dog filter.

It all began when a photo of Modi’s lookalike surfaced on the internet and AIB used it to show that the prime minister was applying the filter with the caption: ‘dog filter is lyf’.

Within minutes the tweet went viral, however, the comedy group had to delete it when Modi’s supporters ran amok with criticism on social media.



Mumbai Police registered the FIR under Indian section 500 (defamation) of IPC and 67 IT act (Punishment for publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form), Hindustan Times reported.

After they deleted the tweet, social media users started trolling the group for being scared to make jokes in India. Many others deplored their sense of humour for making fun of the Indian prime minister in bad taste.
