ISLAMABAD: The Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) on Thursday celebrated 50 years of its establishment.

However, the HEC Chairman Dr Mukhtar Ahmed told officials of the varsity that this was the to set targets for the next 50 years. He added that while achieving the top ranking among universities was important, but sustaining it requires hard work and commitment. He assured his full support to meet the financial needs of the university.

QAU VC Dr Javed Ashraf said that in the past 50 years, the university had established itself as a leading institution of higher learning in the country. "QAU is producing quality research on a shoestring budget, we hope HEC and government would pay special attention to meet university's development needs," he said.
