KARACHI: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should step down as he has lost moral ground to continue as prime minister of the country, expressed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sindh President and MNA Arif Alvi.

Alvi was addressing a press conference on Wednesday after meeting members of the Karachi Bar Association at the City Court. He was accompanied by the party's Karachi chapter president, Firdous Shamim Naqvi, and MPA Khurram Sher Zaman.

"The Karachi Bar Association has always played an important role in national politics and sustaining democracy in the country," Alvi said, adding that the association has sacrificed more for the democratic process than any politician of the country.

All the bar associations of the country should take a stand against the corrupt prime minister and federal government, he said, sharing that the Sharif family is a threat to national security and after the revelations of their corruption, the leaders of Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz have started raising questions against the integrity of the Supreme Court and the Joint Investigation Team.

"I believe the premier has lost all moral grounds to remain in office. It is better that he nominates anyone else for the post and face the charges against him," commented Karachi Bar Association President Naeem Qureshi.

He shared that soon a convention of the Pakistan Bar Council will be held in Lahore and a strategy for the future will be decided.
