Academics celebrate Washington Accord membership

Washington Accord makes Pakistani engineers eligible to work globally without local examinations, said Dr Jawed Saleem

LAHORE: The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) organised a special seminar to celebrate Pakistan becoming a member of the Washington Accord.

The purpose was to acknowledge and appreciate efforts of Team PEC on becoming a signatory. The celebration was attended by PEC Chairman Dr Jawed Saleem Qureshi and others.

Addressing the seminar, Dr Jawed Saleem said the Washington Accord made Pakistani engineers eligible to work globally without local examinations. “It is a matter of prestige and honor, not only for people from engineering disciplines, but for the whole of Pakistan.”

UET students protest against exams in Ramazan

The country is the 19th to obtain membership of the Washington Accord and only the third Muslim state after Turkey and Malaysia. In his address, UET VC Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid appreciated the efforts of PEC. He stated there was a lot of responsibility to work hard and maintain the standards of education.
