The rallies - attended by hundreds of students, political workers, and members of general public - paid tribute to the Kashmir freedom movement and the separatist leader.

A rally led by leaders of the All Parties Hurriyet Conference marched from China Chowk to D-Chowk to express solidarity with Kashmiris.

Later, hundreds of school children gathered outside the National Press Club under the banner of JuD’s children society. The participants wore masks of Burhan Wani and held placards supporting the Kashmir’ struggle for right to self-determination. They raised anti-India slogans and denounced atrocities being committed by the Indian forces in held Kashmir.

“We all are Burhan,” read a placard. “We are Kashmiris and Kashmir belongs to us,” said another.

Manzoorul Haq Butt, a representative of the Hurriyet Conference, while addressing participants at the press club, demanded the right to protest in front of the Indian high commission in Islamabad. “If protests can be held outside Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi, then why cannot we protest outside Indian high commission in Islamabad?” Butt asked.

Later, members of the Muslim Students Organisation also held a demonstration at the press club to pay tribute to Wani.

Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami has announced to march towards the US Embassy from Aabpara to protest against designating Syed Salahuddin as a global terrorist on July 9.
