PESHAWAR: Customs officials at the Bacha Khan International Airport (BKIA) on Friday arrested four people and recovered around 26 kilogrammes of gold from their possession.

Officials said that they had received a tip-off that Ismail Khan was smuggling gold plates. When officials intercepted the man, they discovered 56 gold bars tucked away in his shoes.

Similarly, three others who arrived at the airport from Dubai were intercepted and the precious metal recovered.

Customs officials stated that as much as 21kg of gold was recovered from Kashif Zeb, Muhammad Shakil and Zabur Khan.

They added that the total market value of the confiscated gold ran into
Rs86 millions.
