Minister orders completion of women’s projects

Says the maximum number of females should benefit from govt initiatives

LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Women Development Hameeda Waheeduddin directed authorities to speedup work on projects started by the government.

She issued these instructions while addressing a meeting on the Women’s Package 2017. Provincial Secretary Bushra Aman, Additional Secretary Nadir Khalique, Deputy Secretary Amna Rafique, Director Azhar Munir and representatives of departments concerned also attended the meeting.

In education: Committing to equality for women

Provincial Secretary Bushra Aman briefed the participants on features and initiatives of the Women’s Package 2017. She spoke about the formulation of the provincial gender policy and all existing mobile units, with all basic facilities, to screen breast cancer among women in rural areas,

SME business trainings for women entrepreneurs, IT training by WDD through PITB, skill Development of 40,000 women students with monthly stipends of Rs 1000 each, interest-free micro finance loans, bus stops with designated waiting spaces for women, business Incubation centres in the Chamber of Commerce and Industries in eight cities and one-stop platforms for women-led businesses were discussed in the meeting.

In the meeting, it was informed that IT training had been imparted at women colleges identified by WDD. The minister asked for details of existing mobile units for breast cancer screening in rural areas, the number of waiting areas designated for women at bus stops and beneficiaries of IT training by WDD.
