Former governor to contest from NA-118

Says corrupt politicians have no future left in the country

LAHORE: Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former Punjab governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar announced on Monday that he would contest the 2018 General Elections from NA-118.



He was addressing a public gathering in Shahdara. NA-118 is the National Assembly constituency which includes some of the oldest parts of Lahore behind the walled city. He said corrupt politicians did not have any future in the country.

“Rulers, who were in government for the past three decades, have failed to protect public interest,” he said.



Punjab, particularly Lahore’s decision, will set the tone for the election, he said. The former governor stressed any party winning from Punjab would form a government in the centre.



“Now PTI will sweep Punjab and Imran Khan will be the prime minister of the country.”

Sarwar said the accountability of corrupt rulers would strengthen institutions and the country would prosper.

PTI central leaders Ejaz Ahmad Chaudhry, Naeemul Haq, Waseem Chaudhry, Khalid Gujjar, Zulfiqar Gujjar and a large number of party workers were also present at the event.
