Abbas said that the KDA will continue to coordinate and cooperate with the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and other departments for the betterment of the city just like it helped the authorities during the recent heavy rains.
He was addressing the media on Sunday during his visit to Nehar-e-Khayam in Clifton where officials of the KDA briefed him about the ongoing post-rain work.
'41% of Karachi has no water pipelines'
KDA has managed to complete drainage work in all its schemes and the KDA staff should be appreciated for their hard work in rehabilitating Clifton, Korangi, Surjani, Malir and Gulistan-e-Jauhar, said Abbas.
He directed KDA officials to prepare for any kind of emergency, as more rain was expected because monsoon season has just begun. He added that the staff managed to clear the II Chundrigar Road, where water was accumulated, with the help of machinery and the road was cleared for traffic in very little time. Abbas mentioned that KDA staff also took part in the drainage operation on MA Jinnah Road and in the old city areas.
