ABBOTTABAD: Two children were killed when the roof of their mud house collapsed near Abbottabad on Friday afternoon, eyewitnesses said.

The children, 10-year-old Ehsanullah and his first cousin seven-year-old Abu Bakar, were playing in the mud house meant to house animals in Mohar Khurd village in Sarbahna union council, around 10 kilometres from the Abbottabad-Murree road, when the roof of the building collapsed. Both kids were buried alive under the debris.

Eyewitnesses said that soon after the incident, people from the entire village rushed to the spot to rescue the two children, but failed.  It took locals almost two hours recover the bodies.  Qari Nawaz a resident of Mohar Khurd said that Ehsanullah was the son of Humayun Qayyum, who owns the house adjacent to the mud house. Abu Bakar was Qayyum’s nephew.

The funeral prayers for the two minors were held in the evening.
