If there’s one thing all women can agree upon, it’s that tailors never return clothes on time. And with the anticipation of Eid, it becomes even more frustrating when there’s only a day or two left of Ramazan and your tailor keeps telling you, “Baji, aik din aur lagega!”
A local short film Darzi ki Marzi explains the actual reasons why tailors keep delaying your clothes. Directed by comedian Faheem Azam, Darzi ki Marzi stars National Academy of Performing Arts actor Nazarul Hasan as the master tailor who explains to a new apprentice the ‘tailor conspiracy’.
Festive seasons: Darzi dilemmas
“Jo tailor gahak ko waqt pe kapray de de, wo hum main se nahi,” Hasan says. He shares all the tricks of the trade with the apprentice, saying, ‘customer se satisfaction’ is more important than customer satisfaction. “Customer ko tang karke jo satisfaction aapko milti hai, wo hoti hai customer se-satisfaction.”
The four-minute short film is bang on time, considering Eid holidays just ended and we've all had our share of darzi woes. With the ongoing surge in original online content, it’s great to see local artists coming up with such ideas.
But more importantly, ladies, next time your tailor tells you he didn’t finish stitching the clothes because of load shedding or he ran out of cloth, he’s lying.
