Mysterious circumstances: Journalist found dead on first day of Eid in Karachi
Bodies of two others, believed to have committed suicide, also found
KARACHI:
A female journalist was found dead on the first day of Eidul Fitr under mysterious circumstances inside her apartment in Khudadad Colony within the limits of the Brigade police station.
Meanwhile, a man and girl also allegedly committed suicide in different incidents during Eidul Fitr.
Initial investigations suggest that the journalist was murdered, however, the police are awaiting the post mortem report.
The 65-year-old deceased lived alone. Her body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.
Jamshed division SP Dr Rizwan Khan said that deceased was a journalist by profession, but she had retired. She reportedly worked as a sub-editor at a local Urdu newspaper before retirement.

The initial police investigation suggested that the woman was murdered. Her body was found hanging inside her flat. "Some marks were found on her neck, which raised doubts. She could have been murdered," SP Khan said.
"But her family is not interested in registering a case. I have sent my officer to the family to convince them to register a case and the police will register a case on behalf of the state if the family refuses," he said.
The officer said that the police were also waiting for the post-mortem report to ascertain the actual cause of death and later a murder case will be registered if the post-mortem report suggests that she was murdered. No case was registered till the filing of this news story.
Sindh Home Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal also took notice of the mysterious death and ordered police officials to investigate the matter. Siyal ordered the DIG East to submit a report to him and arrest the culprits if the journalist was indeed murdered.

Similarly, a 22-year-old woman was also found dead in her apartment in Gulshan-e-Iqbal on the second day of Eid. Police officials said that the deceased allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself, adding that she allegedly committed suicide over a family dispute. The police are investigating the case from different angles.
Meanwhile, a 48-year-old man was found dead at his house in New Karachi, within the limits of the Bilal Colony police station on the first day of Eid. The police said that the deceased allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself over financial issues. Further investigation is under way.
