The premier has asked officials that adequate emergency preparatory measures should be ensured throughout the country to contain any potential damage, Radio Pakistan reported. PM Nawaz also directed officials to keep the residents of vulnerable areas informed regarding emergency procedures and ensure timely evacuations, wherever needed.
Karachi braces for rain as Met dept predicts showers across country
The Pakistan Meteorological Department released a weather advisory on Tuesday, predicting widespread rains across the country in the next 48 hours starting from Wednesday or Thursday. The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation has also imposed an emergency in the city.
In the advisory, the Met Office had predicted rains and thunderstorms in upper Punjab, lower Sindh, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), eastern Balochistan and some of the regions in Kashmir.
The monsoon season has already begun in the country on June 26 and its strength is likely to increase from Wednesday, according to the weather advisory.
