PESHAWAR: With Peshawar’s hospitals receiving dozens of injured from the twin blasts in Parachinar and keeping in view the possibility of any untoward incident during Eidul Fitr, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Health Ministry has put on all tertiary care hospitals in the provincial capital on alert.

Officials of the health ministry stated that since a few incidents had taken place in recent days and since they were apprehensive of terrorist incidents over the festive occasion, the ministry had directed the hospital administration to prepare their schedule such that an adequate number of medics are available at the hospital at all hours at their respective facilities.

“We have been doing it on every occasion, especially over holidays such as Eid and Muharram where there is a possibility of an unpleasant event,” a senior health department official said, adding that the hospitals’ management was directed to take the necessary steps.

He further said that since people injured in the twin blasts in Parachinar were still receiving treatment at the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH), the hospital management and staff there were still on duty. Meanwhile, Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) spokesperson Alia stated that emergency duties had been assigned to staff while a special roster had been finalised for the managerial staff, nurses and doctors for all the wards of the facility.
