Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries will celebrate Eidul Fitr on Sunday.

The moon sighting committee in Saudi Arabia announced that Saturday was the last day of Ramadan, and Sunday (June 25) will be the first day of the month of Shawwal and the first day of Eidul Fitr.

The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will convene a meeting on Sunday to sight the moon for Shawwal in Pakistan.

'Missing' Mufti Popalzai apparently in Dubai

Following the rift between the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee and Mufti Shahbuddin Popalzai of Masjid Qasim Peshawar, prominent religious scholars in the country had declared that celebrating Eidul Fitr on Sunday, June 25 would be un-Islamic.

Unlike the majority of the countrymen who had started observing Ramazan from Sunday, May 28 in line with the announcement of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, people in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had followed Mufti Popalzai, starting the holy month a day earlier.
