MIRPUR: Security has been increased across Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) with deployment of extra police force at various busy and sensitive sites in the city and other areas to avert any threat
on Eidul Fitr, official sources said.

When contacted SSP Mirpur Raja Irfan Salim said on Wednesday that additional security staff headed by magistrates have been deputed at all busy places including bazaars and shopping malls in order to maintain law and order situation and to deal with any eventuality.

The district police chief said the police force has been put on alert to ensure security arrangements at busy shopping centres and shopping malls and places of worships preferably during taravih prayers in mosques so that the faithful could celebrate Eid without any fear.

SSP Irfan said that round-the-clock patrolling has also been intensified for maintaining security across the district as well as tehsil headquarters besides small and major towns and villages across the area.

Plainclothes men will also keep a vigilant eye on unscrupulous and suspicious elements, he added.
