BAHAWALPUR: One wheeling has claimed hundreds of lives while several people are forced to live a life with disability. Stern action should be taken against the violators and proper legislation should be carried out to eradicate the menace from the society.

This was said by a local college Professor Imran Bashir while addressing the participants during a walk organised by Rahim Yar Khan traffic police on Wednesday. Motorway police officials, Rescue 1122 workers and a large number of people from different walks of life participated in the event.

The walk started from Khanpur Adda and concluded at City Park. The participants were carrying placards and banners inscribed with slogans against one-wheeling. On the occasion, police officials distributed pamphlets among the people regarding awareness about one-wheeling.

While speaking on the occasion, Motorway Police Official Asim Jalal said that one-wheeling should be discouraged at every level. He added, “Those who indulge in one-wheeling do not understand the value of life.”

Similarly, Anjuman-e-Tajraan Chairperson Chaudhry Muhammad Boota Tahir said, “One-wheelers do not only hurt themselves but also put the lives of others in danger.” He pointed out, “The violators should be dealt with an iron hand and strict action should be taken against them.”

A Division Police Station SHO Chaudhry Ghulam Dastageer said, “One-wheelers should consider this walk as a warning. If they did not refrain from performing wheeling and stunts, they would be arrested and sent to jail.” Meanwhile, Traffic Police DSP Chaudhry Muhammad Asghar said that one-wheeling had destroyed several families. “The police have warned mechanics against altering motorcycles for stunts. They would be arrested and a case would be registered against them.”
