Funds allocated: DG Khan to get Rs626m for 39 uplift projects

MULTAN: The government has allocated Rs626 million for 39 development projects in Dera Ghazi Khan in the budget for fiscal year 2017-18.

A district government official told The Express Tribune on Tuesday that the amount was earmarked for 29 ongoing projects and 10 new projects.

While giving details, he maintained that Rs70 million were allocated for new projects while Rs556 million for the ongoing development works.

He said four new police stations would be established in Taunsa, Dajil, Jatoi and Sanawan sub districts. Besides, he pointed out that funds were also allocated for the restoration of 14 existing police stations, child protection unit, family guardian courts, judicial complex in Kot Addu and land record centres in Rojhan and Rajanpur.

Moreover, checkposts would also be established in Kacha area in Dera Ghazi Khan, the official said.

In addition, he elaborated two public libraries would be set up in Layyah District. He said funds would also be utilised to renovate the buildings of Counter Terrorism Department in Layyah and Dera Ghazi Khan and establishment of police stations at Kot Chatta, Jampur, Muhammadpur, Bangla Acha, Shehar Sultan and Rojhan for increased efficiency of Border Military Police.

Earlier, Dera Ghazi Khan Commissioner Muhammad Yasrib said Rs1.56 billion were allocated for development projects in water, gas, electricity, social and municipal infrastructure sectors in the city.

He said the federal and the provincial governments jointly provided Rs1.56 billion for water, gas, electricity, social and municipal infrastructure sectors.
