Punjab University restricts media coverage after clash
The court ordered the stay on the syndicate meeting and asked the varsity administration to submit a reply before the court by June 13. The stay was granted in light of a petition which requested the court to stop the moot as the present vice-chancellor could not call a syndicate meeting under the rules.
The university syndicate has the authority to take administrative decisions which have a long-lasting effect, but a provisional vice-chancellor cannot call such a meeting.

Dr Zafar, along with the vice-chancellors of three other universities, was appointed on a provisional basis by the LHC in December last year.
