Uh oh, looks like Akshay Kumar needs to be watching his back!

The Bollywood superstar has always been at the forefront when it comes to helping the poor and needy, whether it was during the drought that hit farmers in the Indian state of Maharashtra or the families of martyred soldiers. Akshay has always proven to be a hero, even off-screen.

So it naturally comes as a bit of a shock when the actor was threatened by Maoists for helping someone out, reported Yahoo! The local units of the banned party – the Communist Party of India (Maoist) – recently threatened the Khiladi star for providing financial assistance to the families of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) members who were killed in an ambush in Chhattisgarh in March, earlier this year. Ace Indian badminton player Saina Nehwal also issued a warning to the actor.

Take my National Award if I don't deserve it: Akshay Kumar

The Maoists have distributed pamphlets in their area condemning Akshay’s charitable acts. They have mentioned in the pamphlets that the actor should not be helping the families of the members. In fact, it also read that they should be supporting the tribals instead!

Akshay has given the families of all 12 CRPF soldiers INR900,000 each. He has also started a web portal and a mobile app called Bharat Ke Veer through which people who willingly want to contribute to the cause, can make donations for the families.

The actor had told Times Of India, ''This website has been made in exactly two and a half months. About three months ago, this idea came to my mind while watching a documentary film on terrorists, which showed how terror leaders financially support the families of the terrorist who carry out terror acts.''

He further added, ''Everybody wants to connect to people in uniform in their pain. It was a small dream and to fulfill this dream, our government really helped us. I want to thank everybody with my folded hands. My father was in Army and I am here as his son.''
