A female model claimed she was fired by Hyundai for getting period while she was at work.

Rachel Rickert, 27, filed the lawsuit on Wednesday against the car giant for allegedly dismissing her because of her period. The model was representing the company at the New York International Auto Show when she had to rush to the bathroom to change her sanitary wear.

She got late and, therefore, required a new uniform but was told to go home because of her ‘period situation’.

Later, Rachel alleges that the company called her and said she was being let go and was not required anymore.

Her complaint with US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission against the company says Rachel had been working for three hours continuously when she asked for a bathroom break.

“I’m not going to let someone tell me I can’t have my period when I work. It’s unacceptable,” she told the New York Post.

You’re not a robot. You have to use the bathroom especially when you’re on your period,” she added.

Her lawsuit is against Hyundai and Experiential Talent which had hired the model. The latter declined to comment while the former said: 'We take any complaint like this seriously and will respond appropriately once we have a chance to investigate the merits of the claim.'

Rachel is adamant to fight her case and get her job back.

“They just act like we’re not human. I’m not going to be ashamed or shamed of having my period,” she said.
