LAHORE: The Teachers’ Unions of Pakistan collectively expressed their deep regret and condemnation over the unforgivable incident that happened at City District Government Girls’ High School Kot Shahab Din in Shahdra. The statement put forward by the union said the teachers function as honorary parents for students and inflicting bodily harm not only effects the student’s learning ability but also results in loss of faith in government schools, it said. “As representatives of teachers across Pakistan, we strongly condemn the use of corporal punishment and the practice of inflicting bodily harm to any student. We wish Fajr Noor, our daughter and the future of our country, a speedy and full recovery,” it stated. The union also requested the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation and to bring the perpetrators to justice.
