QUETTA: Railway traffic between Quetta and the rest of the country was resumed on Saturday after it remained disrupted for more than 12 hours.

Unidentified people had planted an explosive device along the track near Simshak, a bordering area situated between Sindh and Balochistan, and detonated it when the passenger train Quetta Express passed by.

Four compartments of the train were derailed, while a portion of the track was blown up due to the explosion. Jaffar Express and Bolan Mail were stopped at the Jacobabad Railway station after the incident.

The railway teams had reached the site from Sakkar and Sibi to carry out repair work. They however concluded the repair work in the afternoon and restored the trail traffic.
