Special kids get chance to give board exams

Nine deaf and dumb students to appear in SSC Part-I examinations.

For the first time in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), nine deaf and dumb students of a local special education institute will appear in the annual Secondary School Certificate Part-I examinations.


The director of Kashmir Institute of Special Education (KISE) Mirpur, Dr Amjad Insari, told APP on Saturday that nine special children from the institute had been included by the AJK Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education (BISE) as regular candidates for the exams.

“The Board of Governors of the AJK BISE has formally approved permission for special children to appear in the matric examination, side by side with normal students, for the first time in the history of the state,” Dr Insari said.

He said special question papers had been prepared for these students, in-line with the criteria stipulated by a high-power committee comprising of leading academics including AJK BISE Chairman Prof Sardar Mansha Khan, AJK BISE Secretary Prof Raja Ayaz Ahmed Khan, Examination Controller Mirza Javed Iqbal and Secrecy Officer Sardar Riaz Ahmed Khan.
