Canada has issued a special posting stamp celebrating Eid on the country’s 150th anniversary.

It has been 50 years since Canada issued a stamp marking a Muslim festival. Previously, stamps only celebrated Christian and secular holidays.

Canada Post also started releasing stamps on Chinese New Year in 1997 and Black History Month in 2003.

Eid stamps will not be the only new design appearing this year in Canada, as the service is set to issue stamps marking the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah and another marking the Hindu holiday of Diwali.

The news stamps will be issued for the next three years and will become a permanent feature of the post if they manage to do well.
