‘Entomologists should deal with insect attacks’

FAISALABAD: Entomologists should play their pivotal role in fighting devastating effects of insect attacks on crops that has caused loss of billions of rupees to the national economy.

These views were expressed by agriculture experts while addressing the annual function of Department of Entomology, University of Agriculture Faisalabad on Wednesday.

While chairing the session, Faculty of Agriculture Dean Dr Muhammad Amjad said entomology had gained immense importance due to new insects amid the climate changes. He said, “Agriculture is the backbone of our economy and poverty alleviation was directly linked to the sector.” He called for stepped-up efforts to overcome the potential threat of pests.
