Addressing the crowd, Syed Ali Geelani said it was better for the Indian authorities to shun their approach and resolve the long-pending issue. "The Indian army is unleashing a new wave of terror, killing dozens and maiming hundreds of unarmed protesters, utilising bullets and lethal pellet-guns aimed to kill and maim."

Geelani guaranteed once the dispute is resolved to the satisfaction of the people of Kashmir, there will be prosperity, peace and stability.

The "guest of honour" at the protest, Mohammad Yasin Malik thanked the crowd for showing solidarity with the people of Kashmir. Reiterating oppression unleashed by Indian forces in IoK, Malik expressed disappointment at world leaders' silence on the matter. "Not a single word has been uttered by them [world leaders] against human rights violations taking place in Kashmir," he said.
